Little Known Ways To Outsource Music with Session Players – Part 2

In the first part of Little Known Ways To Outsource Music With Session Players, we explored the idea of outsourcing our music in order to create more time for us to focus on other parts of our Music Business Plan, and to profit from some great expertise out there. If you haven’t already, then I suggest you read my first post on outsourcing music with Session Players.

I promised I would list 3 online based recording solutions I found that allow you to hire session players from the comfort of your chair - Now I’m fulfilling that promise.

So put down that Guitar Hero© game you love and get ready to make some real music!  Because it seems that you don’t even need a full-time band to sound like one anymore, thanks to new recording technology provided online by companies like the following three.

DrumsForYou.com

Head on over to DrumsForYou.com and indulge your senses with some great drumming to add to your own tracks.

The company’s tagline is ‘For as little as $125, we will give you world-class drum tracks for your project’. After searching around the website, that fee ended up being for ‘per song’ but after listening to some of the examples they provided, it seems worth the price. There were also some relatively low-priced extras that could be purchased if so desired.

After making the payment, you will be able to select the drumming of your choice. After you do that you can easily upload the track into an MP3 format. They also allow you to send them whatever music you have; samples, beats, etc. from which they will place a drum mix into it.

The company claims to have a 48-hour turnaround, which is perfect if you are in a hurry.

You also are given copyright of the music you purchase, which allows you to do whatever you want with it, or play it where you wish to. DrumsForYou.com also provides a full refund if the customer is not completely satisfied with their final product.

There are also several samples of songs completed for some customers, along with profiles of their musicians that provide the actual drum.

Session Players

If you need an entire band and not just drums to complete your musical masterpiece then go to Session Players. This site requires that you first register for their membership, which costs $25. Each individual musician that is hired to play your music can cost $250 and upwards, depending on the actual musician you choose.

After you choose which musician(s) you want, you must send them an MP3 download of your music. They also ask that you provide any sheet music or other information regarding your song that you may have.

Approximately 24hrs after they have received your music, they will check the availability of the musician of your choice. After this step is complete, your actual recording will begin.  Each track of music recorded will then be emailed back to the customer to listen to.

The company boasts that it has musicians that are “responsible for literally hundreds of Gold and Platinum Records for artists all over the world”. You will have to spend some time checking out all of the players and instruments available on their site, as they seemed endless.

Session Players accepts the music in any MP3 format, as read in the ‘FAQ’ section of the webpage. They don’t however provide how long the project will actually take, which is presumable because of the scheduling demands of these world class players. Also, because of the use of such professionals, all music that is intended for commercial use needs express consent from each hired musician.

eSession

Now, if you are already a seasoned musician and want to find a job performing your talents, or if your bass-player suddenly skipped town on the night of a gig, then you should check out eSession.

This site is like a craigslist for musicians. You first have to register for their site. Then you are free to browse all of the musicians who are either looking for a job, or people searching for musicians. The company’s tagline is, “Stop waiting for jobs to find you. Browse for work on the eSession’s job board.”

Apparently this site is a job seeking site which allows you to search for employment and post your resume. Unfortunately, there isn’t too much information available to you unless you sign up first, but its basically similar to many other employment seeking sites found on the web, the exception here being that it is primarily focused on the music industry.

A Few Closing Words

Each site is worthy of a glance, but depending on whether or not you are going to employ their services will depend largely on how serious you are in pursuing your musical goals.

For the musician out there who wants to hear his own music or band’s music but simply lacks a drummer, then DrumsForYou.com is a perfect place to visit.

For those who always wanted to hear their written music come to life, and who are willing to pay for such services, then Session Players is available to help fulfill that wish.

And for those who are quite exceptional and are looking for employment, or those who wish to hire talented musicians, then eSession will be money well spent.

Whichever the case may be, these sites can help one’s dream of sounding like their favourite musicians a reality.

For a comprehensive platform on the subject, I strongly recommend visiting the Session Players Squidoo.
